Dean of Adult/Community Education & Workforce Development — Los Angeles Valley College
As a dean, Doug is responsible for advancing the Adult Education initiatives on campus, overseeing Workforce Training and the Cooperative Education Center, and working directly with the CalWORKs/GAIN and Technology departments. Doug has taught in both the Psychology and English Departments at LAVC. In addition, he has served as the LAVC Director of Workforce Training since 2015, and has directed Specially Funded Workforce Development projects for the LAVC Workforce Training Program. Prior to joining LAVC, Doug directed the Workforce Literacy programs for the Literacy Network of Greater Los Angeles as well as a federally funded program, Proyecto Avanzando, which worked to create pathways for migrant workers to earn GEDs. He has taught high school in both Southeast Los Angeles and Central Japan and served as a Community Education Promoter for the U.S. Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic for a three-year period.
